ABOUT CABC USA

CABC USA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to glorifying God by partnering to provide theological training for African Christian leaders.

We partner with Central Africa Baptist University in Kitwe, Zambia, to equip the next generation of pastors, evangelists, educators, sign language speakers, and counselors for Great Commission living.

All contributions are charitable contributions (with the exception of Tuition Payments*) to CABC USA, Inc. and are eligible for a charitable contribution income tax deduction. Because of this, donors cannot legally earmark contributions to grants for Central Africa Baptist University, Ltd. (the "University") or other foreign organizations. CABC USA, Inc. has exclusive control over funds contributed to CABC USA, Inc. and will use contributions to award grants, at its sole discretion, to the University and other similar organizations. CABC USA, Inc. values donors' input and participation in its charitable program.
*Tuition Payments made to CABC USA, Inc. are not tax-deductible.

Board Members

Steve Hartung

Chairman

Steve and his wife, Beth Ann, live near Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he serves as Executive Vice President and Secretary of Hartung Brothers, Inc. He previously worked as a partner at Foley & Lardner and as general counsel for a family office supporting global manufacturing companies. Steve is an active member of Lakewood Baptist Church in Pewaukee, serving as a teacher, missions leader, deacon, and disciple-maker. With over 30 years of missions involvement, he brings a strategic approach to gospel ministry in challenging contexts. On the CABC USA board, Steve provides valuable legal insight for both domestic and international operations.

Phil Gordon

Treasurer

Phil lives in the Cincinnati area with his wife, Lori, and serves as an elder and treasurer at Grace Bible Church of Milford. He retired from Procter & Gamble in 2020 after a 33-year career in Manufacturing Operations and Human Resources. A lifelong supporter of missions, Phil has traveled extensively to assist global ministries. He and Lori have three married daughters and five grandchildren. Phil brings balanced insight and strategic analysis to the CABC USA board.

Kevin Cassidy

Board Member

Kevin serves as the stateside Director of Partner Relations for CABC USA, representing Central Africa Baptist University in local churches and cultivating relationships with ministry partners. He and his wife, Karen, have spent nearly 40 years in church planting and pastoral ministry. With a long-standing passion for missions, Kevin has traveled internationally to teach and train pastors. He brings a strong local church perspective on missions and theological education.

Sam Horn

Board Member

Sam serves as the lead teaching pastor at Palmetto Baptist Church in Greenville, SC. He has over 20 years of pastoral and academic leadership experience, including roles at several Christian universities. Passionate about missions, Sam has helped found two international Bible colleges, including Central Africa Baptist University, and serves as a board member for several mission agencies. Sam brings to CABC USA a strong grasp of higher education and the ability to apply those standards in a cross-cultural context. Sam and his wife, Beth, have two adult children and one grandchild.

Rod Reasen

Board Member

Rod is an entrepreneur and businessman. He currently serves as the CEO of Daniel Defense, a company committed to honoring God and defending freedom. Previously, he co-founded and led Springbuk, a health analytics software firm that grew to serve over 8,000 companies, including many in the Fortune 500. With a passion for global gospel impact, Rod brings vision and strategic leadership to the CABC USA board. He and his wife Stephanie are active members at Compassion Christian Church in Savannah, Georgia, and have four children.

Roland Thompson

Board Member

Roland lives in West Chester, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Lisa, and is an active member of Bible Baptist Church. With a career spanning startups to Fortune 500 companies across the USA, Europe, and Australia, he brings decades of business leadership rooted in biblical principles. Roland co-leads Thompson & Blackstone, a business think tank and investment platform, and he has co-founded ventures including Frontline Education and CF InFlight, creator of the Emmy-winning Skycam. He brings to CABC USA strategic insight, entrepreneurial experience, and a passion for mentoring young Christian leaders. He and Lisa have three adult children.

Phil Hunt

President

Phil lives in Kitwe, Zambia, where he serves as President of Central Africa Baptist University and teaching pastor at Kitwe Church. He and his wife, Lori, have served as missionaries in Zambia for over 30 years, committed to making disciples and training leaders for healthy churches. Phil brings to CABC USA a strategic global perspective and a deep understanding of African ministry. As the founding president of CABU, he offers vision and on-the-ground insight that helps shape the board’s direction and priorities. Phil and Lori have seven children and three grandchildren.

Zac Shira

Board Member

Zac is a business professional in San Diego, California, and serves as Vice President of Advancement for Radius International, a ministry training program focused on preparing cross-cultural church planters. He and his wife, Shelbi, have been faithful members of Clairemont Emmanuel Baptist Church since 1997, where Zac has served as an elder and on the missions committee. With a strong passion for missions and sending, Zac brings to CABC USA a strategic mindset and a heart for global gospel impact. He and Shelbi have three adult children—a daughter and two sons.
